Update: 2009 NWST Registration packet available in Adobe pdf or MS Word doc.

Update: June 5, 2009 2009 NWST Junior Registration Packet in Adobe pdf or MS Word Doc.

The 2009 NWST will be held in Milwaukee, WI on August 5th – 7th (Wednesday through Friday). The NWSA Executive Committee approved the proposal from Al Neu of the WPVA Warhawks manager on it’s conference call on Thursday, April 30, 2009. No other proposals for hosting the 2009 tournament had been received to date. The Wednesday through Friday format was necessary to meet requirements of the Milwaukee Zoo, host site for this year’s tournament.

Below is an excerpt from the proposal to host:

On behalf of the Wisconsin Paralyzed Veterans Association and the Wisconsin Wheelchair Sports Association, I would like to formally offer to host the NWSA National Softball Tournament this summer, Wednesday Aug 5- Friday Aug 7 with a possible Saturday option. We would also host the Junior nationals on Friday or Saturday. We would hold the event at the Milwaukee County Zoo, with all players and support people getting free admission and parking at the Zoo. This is similar to the setup used by the PVA for their wheelchair games in Milwaukee in 2007. Allen Neu, WWSA Board President, WPVA Warhawks manager.

NWSA’s Executive Committee would like to Thank Al, the WWSA Board, and the Warhawks for offering to host the national championship tournament for NWSA.

Please regularly visit NWSA’s web site for updated information about the season and results from tournaments. Please pass this information to your team’s members.

Let’s Play Ball!

Junior Teams and Programs

The NWSA is teaming up with various organizations to develop wheelchair softball teams and programs for children with physical disabilities. The NWSA is currently seeking individuals to help build this fledgling program. Our ultimate goal is to help foster a program that provides the same confidence and team-building techniques for children with disabilities that their able-bodied counterparts enjoy through the participation of school-sponsored team sports. For more info see Juniors Teams and Programs. For pictures see 2008 Juniors Division Tournament.

If you have an interest to help promote a program for children in your area, please contact us.
